Why travel solo? Is it safe? Don't you get lonely? How do you organise everything? I had travelled in many countries with my then husband but, now divorced I felt confident enough to go solo. I prefer to make my own decisions. If I like a place, a town, a country, I decide how long I'll stay, where I go. The disadvantage is, it may not always work out and, at worst, I could be stranded. However, with the excellent guide books now available, such as The Lonely Planet and The Rough Guide, as well as travel blogs, this is not really a problem. I have, on occasion, joined a small group because of language or transport difficulties and for my treks in Andorra and Greece, otherwise I go solo wherever I can. I recorded my travels in daily journals and, with the help of photographs, I relive my journeys with you.
